Natural hair is very sensitive and can get damaged very easily if you're not careful. Because of the nature of curly hair, natural oils have difficulties traveling don't the body of the hair strand which leaves natural hair with a tendency to get dry and brittle.

Healthy natural hair needs to stay hydrated and limit excessive heats. Where does that leave us, natural girls, when we need bouncy curls?

It uses to be when in need of bouncy curls a fat curling iron was the go-to but to get proper curls with a curling iron, you need your iron to be very hot. However, hair heating tools can lead to horrible heat damage.

Heat damage occurs when the heat is applied to hair strands in a setting that is too high. It damages the hair shaft and changes its originally curly form. Unfortunately, there is no way to revert your hair since the structure of the strand has been changed.

You can avoid heat damage by air-drying your hair, by using banding to stretch your hair when needed, by using heat-less natural hair curlers when you are  wanting bouncy curls and by practicing healthy habits when using heats

For a long time, curlformers and flex rods were the only go-to for natural hair curlers, but as the natural hair movement gains more popularity, more style and type of heat-less hair curler are available for natural hair.

Curlformers can be expensive, the forty count bags was at one point $80! A long time ago I found some curlformer dupes on Amazon I could use as natural hair curlers, but they have been rare for some time if you didn't grab some when they were available, no worries I found five alternatives natural hair curlers you can use for heat-less curls that are super affordable.

They are all under $20 dollars, you can try without the guilt of spending too much.
