Comparison is the main road leading to discontentment. Sometimes we get lost in the comparison game, putting our real lives side by side with other's social media feeds or their outward appearance!
Them<Me<Them
Whether you fall on the right side of the equation and feel guilty or don't measure up and feel short-changed. Regardless of which end of the equation you fall in, comparison will do nothing but hurt you.
Comparison is the number ingredient for a discontent heart.
Fortunately, there is a remedy for discontentment: GRATITUDE
The shortcut to a content heart is thanking God, and it works no matter which side of the comparison equation you fall in.
Gratitude is an instant attitude adjustment, gratitude can help shift your focus toward your blessings. When your focus is on your blessings, your heart can't help but overflow with joy and gratefulness.
What an awesome place to be? gratitude will put you in the humble posture needed to use the gifts that God has entrusted to you.
Comparison is out to steal your joy, your peace, and your contentment but you don't have to let it. The habit of expressing gratitude is the way out of the comparison trap.
We all strive to be better, and the lie that being content can lead to complacency can mess with our head. But you can still be content where you are while you aim toward your higher goals.
Bloom where you planted!

Very well said! I found myself at a point in my life where I wanted someone else's gifts instead of being content with the ones I have. I am content with what I have, and so far, haven't become complacent. Great word!
ReplyDeleteGreat advice! Blogging can bring on the comparison thoughts. Do what you can with what you've got where you are... and be content with that. ~God bless you!~

Great reminder! When I get discouraged or impatient with God, I remind myself of ALL I really do have and to be grateful and thank God for All the blessings I DO have! Things can always be worse and so many people have it worse than I do! It's about changing perspectives and being content where you'really at! 😃
