Homemade no yeast whole wheat pizza
Friday is our pizza night, the girls and I make our homemade pizza it's delicious and fun. I don't normally use wheat flour, to tell you the truth I don't like wheat anything, but since there's barely anything in the store shelf I caved and got some wheat flour just in case.
Another thing that's hard to find now is active dry yeast, my regular flour recipe call for active dry yeast, this one only calls for baking powder. That was a lifesaver.
I'm trying to keep life as "normal" as possible for the girls, for me, that means keeping our routine. A simple thing like Friday night pizza makes a world of difference.
We've been home for seven days now after a while days start blending in, you don't even know what day it is. Friday night pizza reminds us it's Friday! It's a little thing.
Regular pantry items are getting hard to find, we all have to learn to use substitutes and pivot.
Whole Wheat Pizza Dough Recipe
Ingredients
6 ounces (3/4) of water
1 tablespoon of vegetable oil
2 1/2 cups whole wheat flour
1/2 teaspoon of sugar
1/2 teaspoon of salt
1/2 teaspoon baking powder
Sauce
1 Jar of traditional pasta sauce
Toppings
Whatever you want
I used rosemary, basil, jalapenos
Directions
If you have a bread machine, you can just add the dough ingredient in the order I listed them wet ingredients first and dry last.
You can mix the dough by hand and let it sit for 30 minutes
Then it makes Pizza time!
Roll the dough
Add the Sauce
Cheese it
Bake and enjoy!
Times are hard, baking together as a family is a good way to bring the whole family together and have fun. Plus we are gonna have to learn to make our own food for a while and make do with what we can find. I hope you all are staying safe and making the best out of the situation.
Be safe!
